I’m pretty excited to of taken steps to grow PawSau in 2018 today.
When I started this business, I really thought it would just be an extra income hobby. Little did I know how much of a need there was for in-home pet care in Central Wisconsin, and how quickly we would grow. Its pretty awesome to think “We’ve almost made it to our first year, and I don’t see us going away anytime soon!”
PawSau Pet Sitters is amazing. Its a dream come true. I want EVERYONE to know about us….on a budget that mabye allows me to tell a few friends. 🙂 So, how do I grow? How to I make this dream larger than I thought possible?
I started by applying for a membership with the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce. I passionately love Wausau. Above all else I want to support our community, and that seems to be a great way to do it.
I then applied for a membership with Pet Sitters International so that I can get us insured and bonded at a reasonable rate.
About insuring and bonding….you may or may not think its a big deal. To me…? Its a lot of money, and a piece of paper that doesn’t really prove anything. I would much rather a prospective client ask me for 20 references and hear first hand how my team and I treat their pets and their homes, then to look at my insurance and say “O.K., you’re good.”
Henry Ford once said “you can’t build a reputation on what you’re going to do” and that’s pretty much my life motto.
We’re not perfect, but you know what makes my team amazing..? When we make mistakes, we find solutions and fix them effectively and quickly. Also, we would NEVER desert your home and your pets, regardless of the situation.
That aside, if there was a big accident…a bite, or damage to your home, I definitely want you, as our clients, to have the security of insurance and bonding so that will be in effect very soon.
I started a Linked In account…! Almost. I’m not really sure how to use it, but I’m trying. Also I set up YouTube, Twitter and other things I will need to train myself to use.
Word about our business has almost solely spread by word of mouth and social media. Web presence is everything, and learn to use it better-I will.
Finally….we’ve started to lay plans for two, huge dreams of mine.
One is the PawSau Foundation…a resource for low income families to turn to for food and medical care for their pets when in need.
The other is a Central Wisconsin Pet Expo. We have so many rescues, kennels, breeders, animal hospitals, groomers, etc. Wouldn’t it be great to have a show where you could learn about them all in one place….? I think so, too.
Cheers to 2018, new clients, dedicated clients and dreams becoming a reality!
